Ruvimbo (Rue) Munemo
Ruvimbo (Rue) Munemo is a Fellow of the African Tech Futures Lab. She is a structural engineer and material scientist with a focus on sustainable, climate-resilient infrastructure and construction systems. She is currently a Project Manager at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)’s Centre for Worldwide Sustainable Construction (CWSC), where she works on advancing a holistic approach to the construction sector—intergrating technology, capacity building, supply chain dynamics, policy and regulation—to develop practical, context-specific solutions.
She is actively involved in developing cement and concrete industry decarbonisation roadmaps across Africa in collaboration with industry leaders, policymakers, and regional stakeholders. Rue is also a researcher within the LC3 (Limestone Calcined Clay Cement) project, contributing to the advancement of next-generation low-carbon cement technologies.
Rue holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from Stellenbosch University, where her research focused on advanced concrete and construction technologies for enhanced performance and sustainability.
