Trisha Patel
Trisha Patel is a Researcher at the African Tech Futures Lab (ATFL), where she supports the Climate Intervention Futures Initiative and a Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) assessment project through background research, comparative analysis, evidence synthesis, and project delivery support across climate intervention, risk, governance, and contested or emerging technologies. She also works with the African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI) at the University of Cape Town, where her research focuses on understanding how climate intervention, particularly Solar Radiation Modification (SRM), could reshape climate extremes, and how these physical changes might translate into sectoral and community-level risks across human systems.
Alongside her research, Trisha is active in science-policy and public engagement spaces, contributing to international forums and dialogues that aim to strengthen Global South capacity, representation, and decision-making in SRM research and governance. Her work spans academic writing and evidence synthesis, with publications in Environmental Research: Climate and Frontiers in Climate.
Trisha holds an MSc in Climate Change and Sustainable Development from the University of Cape Town, where her dissertation examined SRM impacts on projected temperature and precipitation extremes in South Africa.
